Oversized Mailing

My Role: Concept; messaging; budgeting; creative direction; resource management; final approval.

Notes: This custom-built box created several challenges. The full-color, full-bleed image was manufactured by a print vendor who supplied the finished sheets to a packaging vendor. The sheets were then carefully applied to either side of the heavy corrugated material. At this point, the packaging vendor was able to build the box.

The left side of the box needed to hold and protect the P.O.P. display from thirty or so print collateral pieces on the right side. A heavy-duty insert folded into a T-shape was created for this purpose. Once assembled and loaded, the box weighed in excess of six pounds. You can imagine the shipping costs involved on 7,500 pieces!

The completed box was shrink-wrapped to keep it closed without using tape. Additionally, this allowed the outer artwork to be visible and protected during shipping. The bottom artwork of the box (not shown) provided space for shipping and postage information.
