The mySiemens section of the Siemens website is far more sophisticated in it's web technology than the other two sections, which contain purely informational content.

To begin with, it requires a login and password since it's only available to active customers holding an account. Once inside, the site utilizes a few very sophisticated elements that many web users probably take for granted while they visit sites. Customers are able to purchase a variety of products right online. When you consider that you couldn't even do this ten years ago it sounds pretty impressive. However, it's even more impressive when you consider that approximately 40% of Siemens Hearings sales are now completed through online transactions.

Additionally, customers can check on their pending and completed orders or make a new purchase any time of the day, any day of the week. Again, something that is now considered standard was not even possible less than ten years ago when this tool didn't even exist. That's a huge shift in revenues over such a short period of time.

Of course all of these changes allow business to be done more quickly than before. Since orders are received & processed faster, patients can receive their devices quicker. Add to that, other technological changes within the industry which have increased manufacturing time and greatly increased the overall quality & functionality of devices, you end up with a fast-changing intensely competitive environment.
